Biography

I am a freelance journalist and writer. After 15 years as a news and features staffer on regional, national and international newspapers and magazines, I went freelance.

I write features, reportage, opinion pieces and first-person testimonies. I also write travel features, usually about unusual wilderness and wildlife destinations, but not always. My work regularly appears in the Daily Telegraph, the Daily Mail, The Times and The Sunday Times, Red magazine and Good Housekeeping, among many others. I was launch editor of Fabulous magazine from 2007 to 2008, which now goes out with The Sun on Sunday.

Key skills include interviewing and writing, copy editing and rewriting, contributing and commissioning ideas, editorial quality control, proof reading and launch consultancy. I have worked closely with the Daily Mail, as a contributing editor on the Femail commissioning desk in London, and as a copy editor and writer for that section of the paper.

I also proof read regularly for a leading international advertising agency, and have edited and proof read several student dissertations and theses, and two novels.

I am based in York and keen to hear from anyone who might need an experienced, skilled writer, editor and proofreader. I am available for writing commissions, copy editing and rewriting, in digital and print.
